Everyday freight

Pallet Freight

One pallet or a full deck, on the same scheduled trucks that run our line-haul. Priced on the space and the weight it really takes, not on a guess.

Why it works

Pallets are our daily run

Durban to Johannesburg is our busiest lane, and our own trucks run it. A pallet joins a scheduled departure rather than waiting for a truck to be found for it.

From there it moves on the same network into our eight depots, and onward into the SADC corridors when that is where it is going.

Four things tell us the rate

Send these and you get a real number from the desk, not a call back asking for them one at a time.

How many

The number of pallets, and whether they are standard or oversized.

Size and weight

Height matters as much as the footprint. A tall pallet takes space a heavy one does not.

Where from, where to

The collection and delivery towns, and whether either end needs a tail-lift or a forklift.

When

The day it can be collected, and the day it is needed. Say if that day is fixed.

Handled the way a pallet should be

Pallets are weighed and labelled on arrival at our depot, so a consignment stays identifiable while it is with us.

  • Mechanical handling at both ends where the site allows it, arranged before the truck arrives.
  • Counted on and counted off, against the same job.
  • Dangerous goods on pallets go through our hazardous process, never the ordinary one.
  • Follow it with your waybill number on our home page.

A part load that grows into a full one is simply a deck space booking that took the whole deck. We will tell you which way round is cheaper.

Questions we are asked

Pallet questions, answered

Do you take one pallet, or only full loads?

One pallet or a full deck. A pallet joins a scheduled departure on our own trucks, so it does not wait for a truck to be found for it.

What decides the price of a pallet?

The space and weight it takes. Height matters as much as the footprint, so send all three measurements and the weight.

What if the collection or delivery site has no forklift?

Tell us when you ask for the quote. A tail-lift or forklift changes the job, so we need to know before a truck is sent.

Can dangerous goods go on pallets?

Yes, through our dangerous goods process and never the ordinary one. Tell us when you ask for the quote so the right vehicle, driver and papers are planned.

How long does a pallet take from Durban to Johannesburg?

Next day delivery, before close of business, unless other arrangements have been made with us beforehand.

A few boxes rather than pallets? See Carton & Parcel Freight. Growing into a part truck? See Deck Space & Part Loads.

Insuring the goods is the sender’s responsibility, and our liability is limited as set out in our standard trading terms and conditions, available on request. Insurance is available on request, unless other arrangements have been agreed in line with our terms and conditions.

Pallets to move?

Tell us how many, how big, and the two towns. You will get a rate from a named desk, and a straight answer if the job is not ours.

Talk to me

What needs quoting?

Tell us what is moving, where from and where to. You will get a real number from a real person.
