FBN Transport exists to carry what matters most, with the care and the personal accountability that only a family business can give.
FBN Transport was founded in Durban in 1988 and has traded continuously ever since. It is still independently owned and still run by the family whose name is on the trucks.
In an industry consolidating rapidly into a handful of global groups at one end and a long tail of owner-drivers at the other, the credible, compliant, independent operator is becoming rare. That scarcity is our opportunity, and our freedom to adapt is how we protect it.
Independence is why we can re-route a load at nine at night, price a job on its merits, and change how we work without waiting for a head office in another country to approve it.

These are the parts of the business that do not change, even where they cost us a competitive advantage.
Our name is on the door. Every load carries the reputation of a family that has spent nearly four decades building it, and there is nowhere for us to hide when something goes wrong. That is deliberate. We do not pass you to a department. The person who takes the call is the person who owns the outcome.
We choose the loads other operators avoid. Hazardous cargo, abnormal loads, time-critical overnight freight, containerised and break-bulk work off the quayside. That demands permits, accreditation, trained drivers and documentation that never slips, and we invest in it continuously because it is the one advantage a competitor cannot buy overnight.
Our people are the brand. The driver at the gate, the controller on the phone and the mechanic in the yard are the three touchpoints a customer actually experiences. Externally, we build relationships rather than accounts. We tell you the truth about what is achievable, and we say no when a promise cannot be kept.
We are independently owned and we intend to remain so. Independence is not sentiment. It is the source of our speed, our flexibility and our honesty, because our customers deal directly with the people who own the outcome.
We think in decades, not quarters. A family business measures success by what is still standing in twenty years: the fleet maintained rather than run into the ground, the staff developed rather than churned, the customer relationship renewed rather than harvested.
We are not a multinational routing profit offshore. We employ South Africans, we develop them, and we serve the manufacturers, importers, farmers and contractors who keep the KwaZulu-Natal economy working.
Every line here is a fact we can produce a document for, rather than a performance figure we have chosen to publish.
Nearly four decades of continuous operation in one industry and one corridor.
Experience across the operations team, not a headline number from one CV.
Operator authorisation, trained drivers and current dangerous-goods certification.
Provincial permitting, route surveys and escorting handled in house.
Road Freight Association membership, and documentation open to audit.
A director is reachable by name, on a mobile, while a truck is on the road.
Level 4 contributor with 100% procurement recognition and 26% black ownership. Current certificate available on request.

Paperwork is in order before the truck moves. The permit is on the dashboard. The placards are correct. We do not regard compliance as red tape. We regard it as the difference between a professional and a chancer.
We are warm but straight. If a delivery is going to be late we phone before you have to ask. If a job is outside our competence we will tell you and recommend someone else.
Nearly forty years in one industry and one corridor, with a stable team, produces knowledge that cannot be written into a procedure. Which weighbridge is slow. Which receiving yard closes early. Which route survey will fail. Customers buy that accumulated judgement whether or not they can name it.
